N.S. PRO MODUS3 PROTO 980ST WINS WEB.COM WITH THREE RUNNER-UP FINISHES FOR NIPPON SHAFT

Nippon Shaft’s tour developed N.S. PRO MODUS³ PROTO 980ST steel shafts were played by the winner of yesterday’s Web.com event and by the runner-up and third-place finishers on the PGA TOUR.

A total of 21 players on the European Tour and PGA TOUR utilized the N.S. PRO MODUS³ PROTO 980ST steel shafts in their irons, making it the hottest steel shaft on the pro circuits.

The winner of the United Leasing Championship shot 9-under 279 on rounds of 73-67-72-67 using the 980ST X flex steel shafts to win by a stroke and take home a winner’s check of $108,000.  It was the first Web.com title for the 43-year-old Englishman, who overcame a seven-shot deficit on the final day at Victoria National in Newburgh, Ind.

At the PGA TOUR’s Quicken Loans National, the runner-up from Baytown, Texas also utilized the 980ST X flex steel shafts in his irons to finish regulation play at 4-under 280 on rounds of 74-68-68-70 at the challenging Congressional Country Club in Washington, D.C.  It was a difficult playoff, but he took consolation in the fact he earned a spot in The Open.

The third-place finisher, who ended up one shot out of the playoff, also used the 980ST X flex steel shafts in his irons, and also made it into The Open.

At the BMW Championship in Germany, the 37-year-old Swedish golfer who last year won both the FedEx Cup and the Race to Dubai championships got into a four-way playoff by shooting an impressive 19-under par 269 with rounds of 68-68-66-67 in Cologne.  He used the N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 120 S flex steel shafts in his irons.

On the LPGA Tour, it was an American star using the N.S. PRO 950GH – Nippon Shaft’s industry-changing lightweight steel shaft – who finished runner up at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.  She shot 11-under par for the 54-hole event on rounds of 69-66-67—202.
