SteelFiber Flies High at Boeing Classic

SteelFiber shafts, designed and manufactured by Aerotech Golf, were flying high all weekend and landed three Top 10 money positions at the Boeing Classic on the Champions Tour. SteelFiber i110 graphite iron shafts delivered two T3 finishes and a T9.

The former World No. 1 player with 57 professional tournament wins on his resume, including the 1992 Masters, captured a share of third-place playing SteelFiber i110 graphite irons shafts. Another T3 finisher, who once spent nearly 200 weeks in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Ranking and who won The Masters and the British Open in 1998, shot a pair of 68s on Saturday and Sunday with his set of SteelFiber i110s.

“The success, history and experience that is on display every day by the players on the Champions Tour is always awe-inspiring, and we’re very excited that these remarkable players trust their game to SteelFiber shafts,” says Chris Hilleary, president of Aerotech Golf. “Many senior golfers prefer the SteelFiber i110s graphite iron shafts over typical steel shafts. The i110s are lighter in weight than steel, increase distance and deliver a low penetrating ball flight, while still maintaining the overall feel that players are used to with steel shafts. Plus, SteelFiber shafts reduce vibrations and fatigue, allowing a player to be at their peak performance longer.”

SteelFiber shafts provide superior performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. The shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, while the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy.

Last year, SteelFiber shafts delivered seven wins — three on the PGA Tour and two each on the Champions and LPGA Tours. The previous tour season was equally successful with SteelFiber chalking up five wins on the PGA TOUR and two more on the Champions Tour. Players with SteelFiber shafts routinely rank high on the PGA Money List, Official World Golf Rankings and the FedEx Cup Season Points. In 2013, for example, SteelFiber players ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the FedEx Cup Season Points and ended overall as No. 3 and No. 5 on the PGA Money List.

“The performance benefits of SteelFiber shafts offer unique advantages to women players so it’s exciting to see the growing popularity of SteelFiber on the LPGA Tour as well as the other pro tours,” says Chris Hilleary, president of Aerotech Golf. “SteelFiber shafts incorporate high-modulus graphite and micro-thin steel fibers, a combination that allow players to increase yardage, reduce fatigue, while still maintaining the stability and accuracy normally associated with steel shafts. SteelFiber innovation is a game-changer.”
