SteelFiber Wins Champions Tour Season Opener
While Aerotech Golf’s SteelFiber shafts kicked off the PGA Tour on a hot streak, the Champions Tour has been even more exciting. The No. 1 composite iron shafts in golf, SteelFiber shafts won the season opener of the Champions Tour, capturing their first Mitsubishi Electric Championship title.

In his first tournament to play SteelFiber shafts in his irons, the Mitsubishi Electric champion shot bogey-free golf and ended on Sunday shooting a 5-under-67 at the Hualalai Golf Club. He forced a playoff in the final round, and clinched the win with a birdie on the second playoff hole. The win marked the champion’s ninth victory on the Champions Tour, adding to his 11 career wins on the PGA TOUR.

“We’re very excited with a victory on the Champions Tour,” said Aerotech Golf President Chris Hilleary. “Because SteelFiber technology provides greater vibration dampening and reduces player fatigue, while at the same time giving the stability normally associated with steel shafts, we expect SteelFiber shafts will have a growing influence on both the Champions and PGA Tours for many years to come.”

In 2012, SteelFiber shafts were the No. 1 iron composite shaft on the PGA TOUR for the third consecutive year. In addition to their second-straight Ryder Cup appearance, SteelFiber shafts won the 2012 FedExCup title, the TOUR Championship, The Players Championship and the Farmers Insurance Open and collected 21 Top 10 finishes on the PGA and Champions Tours. In 2011, two of the Top Eight players in the final FedExCup standings played SteelFiber shafts and SteelFiber delivered two Top Three finishes in the PGA TOUR PlayOffs.
