NIPPON SHAFT WINS on EUROPEAN and LPGA TOURS
Nippon Shaft over the weekend recorded two more professional victories, on the European Tour and the LPGA Tour, the company announced today.On the European Tour, the 36-year-old native Swede used Nippon Shaft’s N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 120 steel shafts in his irons to win the South African Open at the Serengeti Golf & Wildlife Estate near Johannesburg.
The three-stroke victory was his first since he won the 2009 Players Championship and his first win on the European Tour in five years. He birdied two of the last three holes to win and finished at 17-under par for the tournament, shooting rounds of 66-65-69-71—271.
Meanwhile, on the LPGA Tour, the 25-year-old 2012 Women’s U.S. Open champion recorded a two-stroke victory at the CME Titleholders at the Eagle Course at TwinEagles Golf Club in Naples, Fla. She used Nippon Shaft’s N.S. PRO 850GH steel shafts in her irons and won a first-place check worth $500,000, the LPGA’s largest first-place check of the season. She finished the tournament at 14-under par with rounds of 67-68-69-70—274.
