N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 130 IS RUNNER-UP IN SUDDEN DEATH at Riviera

Nippon Shaft’s new N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 130 steel shafts recorded a second-place finish Sunday at the Northern Trust Open near Los Angeles, tying for first after 72 holes and forcing a sudden death playoff.

The 28-year-old Arizona native wielded a prototype of the Tour 130 shafts in his irons when he won last year’s Disney event in Orlando. At Riviera Country Club last week, he shot 11-under par on rounds of 67-71-68-67--273 in regulation, but bogeyed the devilish 310-yard par 4 10th to fall on the second playoff hole.

“Nippon Shaft is very proud to have played a role in such an outstanding week of golf,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft.  “His performance this week showed that his victory in Orlando late last season is very likely to be replicated soon.”  He earned $712,800 for Sunday’s spectacular play, his biggest check of the year.
